Livsey’s Place of the month: Little Bay, Battersea
Celine Dion
LITTLE BAY, BATTERSEA
Socialising always contains nibbling, my favourite nibble is cream cakes, yummy. I don’t drink alchohol as I prefer squash with juicy bits. But on special occasions I like to eat with my hurd in a good restaurant and what better place this month than Little Bay, Battersea. An amazing little oasis of lush fine décor, giant stone statues towering to the high ceilings, folleage in a sort of opera house come Persian tent style eatery with royal box dining booths fixed around the top under the ceiling. I sat at my table with an interesting crowd chatting and laughing in the relaxed atmosphere. The waiters, dressed in saris and tunics, were fussing descretely as they brought us a wide selection of fine wines and juices. The menu has an unusual variety of options to choose from, I had delicious smoked haddock cooked to a moist tender point on a bed of fresh green spinach with a creamy sauce. The have to say it was the sauce which made this dish a success! £1.75. I was salivating as I moved on to my main course of Fillet of Salmon with brocholi and curried mussels, an interesting combination but it worked extremely well. The salmon simply flaked onto the fork and surprisingly the sweet curried mussels created a bit of excitement but they were a brilliant accomplement to the salmon and gave a twist of mild spicy flavours to dwell on – I simply had to make this dish last savouring each mouthful and tempted to order another one. I was emmensely satisfied and £.5.45 I don’t know how they do it? Overjoyed I couldn’t wait for the desert menu and as I felt my way round a hunch took me to warm apple cake and ice cream and believe me it’s not something to be missed. Having completed my meal I slipped to the lavatory and to my amazement they are painted with pornographic situations in the style of Leonardo’s chapel ceiling. Little bay is worth visiting just to see the loos! My bill was small and my tummy was satisfied, I love it and I’ll be back with my mother! Little Bay has a big future! Armani hosted a party to launch it’s Autumn Winter collection on 15th September in the Flagship Sloane Street store with a lavish party full of champagne, canapes and style. I was there with my flute of Orange Squash mingling amongst a selection of the world’s social elite. As I was nibbling on the end of my lamb canape as the wonderful Anthea Turner appeared before me. She was looked stunning and as always she’s charming and sweet. I first sort of met Anthea in Blue Peter all those years ago when the famous Ice rink was in the studio. I bumped into her last Christmas as well but it was the fairy lights, little pink ones, what I think we both remember! Wouldn’t it be delightful to see her back with a bang, well I promise you she will be, it’s the twinkle in her eye! The catwalk boasted the very best of Armani fashion from sophisticated suits gripping the elegance of the moment to grey mandarin-collared toggle-fastening jacket with grey cropped flared trousers, an ideal addition to any wardrobe.
Aquascutum launched the £2 million new look regent street branch on 20th September. The new style for Aquascutum marks over 100 years of a fashion label which has adapted well to the growing demands of our modern world.
Burberry launched their autumn winter collection. A three day event in all their branches from 16th September they provided champagne for all guests browsing through their fabulous new collections. Burberry really has excelled in their fashion this year with so many wonderful designs it’s like being in a sweetshop!
Livsey’s Afternoon Tea: Ricardo
MOI WITH RICARDO
I met up with "The Salon's" Ricardo for chat over afternoon tea at The Selfridges Hotel, Oxford Street after traipsing the shops with him dragging me along and waiting as he frustratingly tried to find the right pair of red stilettos for his tiny little feet. Flanked by press we busted our way into the hotel and sat comfortably to an hour of intense nail biting discussion over a delicate afternoon tea. He doesn't have a relationship at the moment as he is working very hard on his TV and showbiz commitments however he does have a bit of hanky panky "I only have sex in public places", I said "Only? Don’t you like that feeling of a soft mattress underneath you?" he said "No, I like the rough feeling of the trees and twigs" the naughty thing! He is a very proud person and enjoys the trappings of celebrity as I saw his reactions to the people asking nervously and excitingly for his autograph, his lips pouted and eyes fluttered with pride. A very sweet person is Ricardo and I like him very much. Ricardo likes to party and one of his favourite haunts is China White where he likes to let himself loose and wiggle the night away (he’s a very good dancer!). He’s into shopping, clothes, make-up (lip gloss) and doesn’t eat very much, I feel like cooking him a big Sunday roast sometimes to fatten him up a bit. Showbiz duties call and we both had to rush off to our next diary entry. Ricardo - “Livsey, you’re so funny!”
What’s happening over the winter?
