KEEP YOUR COOL: In these days and nights of sizzling temperatures, keep cool, calm and collected.
HOUSE of LORDS: The Guild of Travel and Tourism arranged a Summer Luncheon party in the Cholmondeley Room. A Champagne Reception on the Terrace overlooking the Thames preceded this, views were marvellous and gentle breezes soothed our fevered brows. Then into the Cholmondeley Room for lunch which was hosted by Lord Pendry of Stalybridge who introduced the Guest Speaker, the Hon Desmond Guinness, who told us all about the Irish Georgian Society.
The 4-Course Menu was excellent accompanied with Valle Andino Chardonnay and House of Lords Claret. The main course was really succulent and original: Pan-fried Fillet of Halibut served on Blue Cheese Dauphinoise sautéed asparagus spears with fresh dill.
Before you leave the House of Lords, visit their Gift Shop, and perhaps acquire the House of Lords Champagne, which would look decorative perched on your dining Table.

RUINART CHAMPAGNE held their Summer Party in one of the most Beautiful Gardens in London. HEMPEL HOTEL in Craven Hill Gardens, near Lancaster Gate, has a Garden that transports you to a world of natural beauty but with sophisticated elegance.
One's glass was constantly refilled with delicate Ruinart bubbles served from Magnums. Gentlemen in tails and ladies dressed in flowing chiffon and chic bikinis created the French Impressionist image. Young dancers from the School of Dramatic Art played provocative table tennis (tables unnecessary) with light leaps, bounds and flowing arm movements. A delightful speech, which conjured up beauty, pleasure and freedom of thought and ideas, was poetically given by a visiting Director from Ruinart. I was completely enchanted, thank you, very, very much, for an evening I shall never forget.
