Letter From The Editor
I can hardly believe how quickly this last year has gone….and yet what a year it’s been! And what’s more, 2005 is the tenth anniversary of HOT GOSSIP. Can you believe that? It seems like yesterday when I was first introduced to the WORLD WIDE WEB, as we liked to call it in those days. There I was, thinking how clever it was of little old me, being a member of COMPUSERVE, the forerunner of AOL, when I suddenly found myself at a launch party chatting to computer experts from CERN, who in turn introduced me to TIM DISNEY, nephew of WALT, who took my photo and put it on the WORLD WIDE WEB right there and then! Instant fame! I was hooked! Next thing you know, with help from the CERN guys, I had created HOT GOSSIP. But what to do with it! It was 1995 and nobody I knew in the UK had any idea of the web – well hardly! That was in the days when only a handful of journalists and paparazzi were on-line – and mostly they were on the FLEET STREET FORUM on COMPUSERVE. Nevertheless I recruited our first contributing editors and in those early days I found myself having to type their copy taken from a fax – it would be some time before they supplied me with a floppy disc – and even longer before I had the luxury of receiving their copy via e-mail. But thankfully they stuck with it and when the CERN guys departed for other pastures a couple of years later we were fortunate to have met JAMES KNIGHT, our KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR, who’s been our publisher ever since. And now JAMES wants to launch HOT GOSSIP in other countries – starting with BULGARIA, where he specializes in fab property – and apparently the Bulgarians like HOT GOSSIP – our magazine that is! You can follow the link to our property page and grab yourself a bargain, for Bulgaria is what Spain used to be. Apparently you can buy 2 or 3 properties for the price of one UK property, and at an up and coming ski or summer resort! Go for it, contact information is on the page.
As usual our Ed's have some interesting news and gossip to share with you, and Joe, our celebrity ed has some great red carpet images – stars that is - and he's now a personality in his own right - appearing in the TV documentary 'Paparazzi'. Thanks to all our Ed's and to our website designer Graham Morris, who's the Creative Design Director of The Media Tank.
Well, as you may know at this time of the year we take a break until February, which means that this is our December/January double issue. So you have lots more to read in these pages as this is a bumper issue, and we get to take a holiday without having to worry about deadlines. I know I speak for all of us when I say I wish you all the very best for the festive season and a great 2005!
We'll see you in the New Year
Editor in Chief

EASTENDERS is a NO FRILLS Cash & Carry situated in easy reach of both the Channel Tunnel exit and the Ferry terminals, retailing wine, beer and spirits in the range of budget wines and spirits for everyday drinking thro' to those for the 'Price no Object' afficinado.
Created by Dave West who, in 1989 began his preparation to establish a commanding presence in what was to be a new market resulting from the enactment of the Single Market Treaty. His NO FRILLS approach, allied to the retail philosophy of STACK HIGH AND SELL IT CHEAP is central to the company's culture and has ensured that the store has achieved the objective set in 1989, that of a commanding presence.
Today's store is probably the largest independently owned retail outlet of its type in the world, offering wines, beers and spirits from all major countries, and as a result of the quality of the products allied to their retail price, it enjoys an enviable degree of customers.
In addition to the outlet in Calais, EastEnders also has a retail outlet on the Franco-Belgium border retailing tobacco products, same emphasis on keeping the cost down, and is in easy reach of Calais.
