A happy Indian Summer to you, dear readers (we wish!)
My CELEB RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH for September is a practical place where you can sit outside on the terrace all year round thanks to the sensible outdoor heaters. It is none other than the gorgeous and trendy TRUC VERT, a little gem in the heart of Mayfair at 42 North Audley Street, W.1. / 020 7491 99 88, owned by the dashing RUSSELL CAMERON and p.r. 'd by the lovely CHARLY SPRY. CHARLY and I had an excellent dins there recently where la creme de la creme of Mayfair society dropped by, several pints of a delightful crisp rose wine were consumed and the food just melted in our mouths. CHARLY and I ate a whole tray of TRUC VERT's charcuterie, it was so delicious! Then I followed with an excellent Seared Lemon Sole with Risotto whilst CHARLY enjoyed a succulent Grilled Scotch Rib-eye Steak with Grilled Aubergines, Onion, Smoked Mozzarella and Tomato Salsa. Then it was just a taste of the yummy Tarte Tatin and Lemon Mousse as we were feeling well stuffed, as the saying goes, by that point!

So both ANGIE and ROSE – MARIE now have something to smile about. If YOU want to flash a gorg smile without having to hide your mouth, you may want to think about getting your little toothy pegs bleached. It's all the rage these days and yes, it really does work. When the film finished I bounded out of the chair and inspected my newly whitened teeth and was thrilled to find that they actually had become several shades whiter. Brilliant! I will definitely be keeping up this sensational, quick and - most importantly - completely pain free treatment.

A unisex favourite is the amazing SWITCH STICK, a stylish new type of folding walking / hiking stick in lively colours with carry bags and velcro straps which are just as useful on Bond Street as in the Fells. Our trialler CHRISTOPHER said "my stick was in a bright cerise and purple swirly pattern which certainly got me noticed! I have to use a stick to get about after an accident but life is much more fun with this one. Don't forget to protect your skin from the sun, whatever age you are. Fake tans are so good nowadays that you really don't need a real tan. The best self tans my trialler AMANDA has found this month are LANCASTER's Essential Bronze Milk, Satin Bronze Dry Oil Spray and – for the faint hearted! – Gradual Hydrating Bronze Lotion. My fave FILM this month is CHRISTOPHER NOLAN's dark and dangerous THE DARK KNIGHT, the 4th in the BATMAN series. The tragic HEATH LEDGER is brilliantly deranged and evil as THE JOKER and OSCAR and BAFTA nominations are already being mentioned. Plus gorgeous CHRISTIAN BALE holds his own in the straight part as The Caped Crusader (or is that SUPERMAN? It's all so confusing! A bit like the film which needs maximum concentration and minimum alcohol intake if you want to understand all its intricate twists and turns. But, hey, this is fantasy, isn't it?)
So did the stunning MR BALE really whack his relations when they touched him for a hundred grand at THE DORCHESTER? Allegedly? No doubt he is a Method actor and was still in character!
Btw MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL is also 'damn fine' as the love interest in BATMAN and here she is in her dark finery (excuse the double pun) at the Prem.

My fave CELEB BOOK this month is the astonishing MO HAYDER's RITUAL (BANTAM PRESS / £14.99). The queen of the horror thriller has gone very LYNDA LA PLANTE in this latest scarebuster, bringing back her sympathetic copper DI Jack Caffrey and pairing him with a young female police diver called Flea. Of course they both have traumatic family deaths in their pasts and there is a considerable amount of romantic tension. This, coupled with MS. HAYDER's usual supply of shockingly grisly deaths and dismemberments and a grim new character called The Walking Man, makes for a thrilling read. Not for the faint hearted!
The best CELEB PARTY I attended in August was, conveniently, hosted by myself! My long time pal STEVE ROWLAND, whose brilliant new 'legends and icons' book, HOLLYWOOD HEAT (BOOK GUILD / £19.99) I reviewed last month, kindly invited me to host his launch party for the book at THE BEAUCHAMP in Knightsbridge (020 7581 88 86), courtesy of charming proprietor GUSTAF GROF.
