Welcome to the September 2008 round up of news and views on UFOs, alien abductions, crop circles, ghosts, the paranormal, the unexplained, the weird and the wonderful.
The X-Files - I Want To Believe
The X-Files: I Want To Believe is now on general release. The film will appeal both to fans of the original series and to people who are coming new to The X-Files. Part thriller, part supernatural mystery, the movie is quite dark and may shock in places. It's certainly edge of the seat stuff and it's great to see Mulder and Scully back together: one of the most brilliantly scripted and magnificently acted screen combinations of all time. Earlier this year I was asked by 20th Century Fox to write some material on real-life mysteries and conspiracy theories and this was used in various media features that tied in with the release of the film. I attended the UK premiere of the movie and got to meet and chat to both David Duchovny and Chris Carter. David was interested to hear about my government work on UFOs while Chris was already familiar with my work. Check out www.xfiles.com for more information about this spooky and deliciously dark movie.

Edge Media TV
For people interested in mysteries and conspiracy theories, there's a new TV channel dedicated to such issues. Edge Media TV (EMTV) broadcasts on Sky Channel 211 and is a place where you can tune in to listen to shows on UFOs, crop circles, 9/11 conspiracy theories, debates about ID cards and much more besides. Presenters include Franky Ma and Ross Hemsworth and the TV station's forum is beginning to become the place to discuss the unexplained, conspiracy theories and anything else weird and wonderful. Check out the website at http://www.edgemediatv.com/ and the forums at http://www.edgemediatv.com/forum/ to get involved. And yes, you can interact with the presenters, suggest guests and pose the questions you want answered.
9/11 TV Debate
I commentate in the media not just on UFOs and the unexplained but on space, science fiction, conspiracy theories and various defence and intelligence-related issues. One subject on which I have frequently appeared on TV and radio is 9/11. I served for 21 years in the Ministry of Defence, most recently in a security related post, so am often ask to discuss such issues and explain what governments do and don't, can and can't do. I was challenged to look at the various 9/11 conspiracy theories, most of which suggest it was either an 'inside job' or that assistance was given and/or a blind eye turned. I looked at this carefully and concluded the conspiracy theories were unfounded. On 4th September I'll be taking part in a live TV debate on this on Press TV. On past form, I will stand ready to receive vast amounts of hate mail for doing nothing more than expressing my honestly held opinion, based on 21 years of working for the government.
Crop Circle Season 2008
August was the highlight of the annual crop circle season and saw some spectacular formations appearing in the fields of Wiltshire and Hampshire in the last few weeks before the fields were harvested. Check out websites such as www.cropcircleconnector.com and www.lucypringle.co.uk for the latest news and the latest photos.
Large Hadron Collider
As trailed in previous columns, the largest machine ever constructed, the Large Hadron Collider, is about to go live. After a series of delays and even a lawsuit, it is expected that the machine will begin to operate in August. The particle accelerator has a circumference of 27 kilometres and straddles the borders of France and Switzerland, near Geneva. Buried underground, the plan is to smash protons together at virtually the speed of light and thus recreate conditions that are thought to have existed a fraction of a second after the Big Bang. Scientists hope that the results may shed light on some of the great mysteries of our time, including Dark Matter and the search for extra dimensions. It may also detect new and exotic particles, such as the Higgs Boson, the existence of which has, thus far, only been theoretically postulated. The first beams are expected to be circulated shortly, with the first high energy collisions being planned shortly thereafter. Expect to see massive media coverage in the run up to its activation. I hope to be attending the opening ceremony and will report back on this next month. In the meantime, check out www.cern.ch/lhc for more information.Biography:
