Welcome to the October 2007 round up of news and views on UFOs, alien abductions, crop circles, ghosts, the paranormal, the unexplained, the weird and the wonderful.
Cosford Incident on German TV
On 14 September a new documentary on the Cosford Incident was broadcast on German TV, as part of the popular Galileo Mystery series. This one hour special probed the 1993 case in depth and is the second full length documentary on this case, which was previously featured in a show that I presented on Channel Five last November. The case is not as well known as the Rendlesham Forest incident, but is generating renewed interest as a result of this new programme, which has already been repeated on German TV. For details of the Cosford Incident, check out the feature in the Selected Articles section of my website www.nickpope.net and read the MoD case file at www.mod.uk by putting the phrase Cosford Incident into the search box.
X-Conference 2007 and 2008
I recently returned from Washington DC, where I spoke at X-Conference 2007, organized by Stephen Bassett. The conference was followed by a press conference at the National Press Club. Other speakers included Steven Greer, Richard Dolan, Paola Harris, Paul Kimball and Bruce Maccabee. It may seem a while away, but interest is already building in the next event, X-Conference 2008, which will be held on 18 - 20 April at the Hilton Hotel in Gaithersburg, near Washington DC.Check out www.x-conference.com or www.paradigmresearchgroup.org for details. I seem to be living out of a suitcase at the moment and over the next few weeks I have filming commitments and speaking engagements in America, Greece, Denmark and Brazil.
Society of Chemical Industry
On Saturday 13 October I shall be giving a lecture organized by the Society of Chemical Industry, an organization that promotes closer working between science and business. The event takes place at 11am in Widnes, at the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre on Mersey Road. Entrance is free. Check out www.soci.org for further details and put my name or the phrase UFO into the search box. It is encouraging that scientific organizations seem increasingly willing to discuss UFOs, and indeed I have previously given presentations at the Cheltenham Festival of Science, the Newcastle Science Festival and the Dana Centre, which is part of the Science Museum.
UFO Data Conference
Now for a good old fashioned UFO conference. UFO DATA Magazine are holding their annual conference in Pontefract on 20 and 21 October. This will be the largest UFO conference held in the UK for several years and is well worth attending. Speakers include Philip Mantle, Michael Hesemann, Don Schmitt and Jesse Marcel Junior. Jesse is the son of the intelligence officer based at Roswell in 1947 and is probably the last person alive to have handled the wreckage from whatever crashed at Roswell. Alien spacecraft, weather balloon, spyplane, or something else? This is a chance to meet the one man who may hold the key to the mystery. The conference takes place at the Parkside Hotel and Conference Centre. Check out www.ufodata.co.uk for further details.
The 2007 Questing Conference will be held on 3 and 4 November at the Assembly Rooms in Glastonbury. Covering subjects ranging from psychic questing and 2012 prophesies through to contact with otherworldly intelligences, the speakers include Graham Hancock, Ross Hemsworth, Kathy Jones and the organizer, Andrew Collins. Check out www.andrewcollins.com for all the details.
Nick Pope - The Man Who Left The MoD
There are still a few copies left of this DVD, produced by Reality Entertainment earlier this year. This full length DVD was made shortly after I resigned from the MoD and covers a wide range of material, including UFOs, alien abductions, crop circles, quantum physics, psychology and black projects, with new information about cases such as the Rendlesham Forest Incident and the Cosford Incident, as well as some less well known cases. The interview was conducted by Michael Bourne and directed by Philip Gardiner. Check out www.reality-entertainment.com for further details and to order a copy, or order through Amazon.
Beyond Magazine is going from strength to strength and fast becoming the magazine of choice for anyone with an interest in UFOs, ghosts, cryptozoology, psychic phenomena and other mysteries. The glossy 100 page publication is available from all good newsagents or can be ordered via subscription. Check out www.beyondthemagazine.com for details.
Nick Pope has written four books. Open Skies, Closed Minds is an overview of the UFO phenomenon with the emphasis on his official Ministry of Defence research and investigation. The Uninvited is an overview of the alien abduction mystery. Operation Thunder Child and Operation Lightning Strike are science fiction novels about alien invasion, incorporating UFO and abduction data. All four titles are available from most good bookshops and all the usual Internet book sites.
Nick Pope has a website, which can be accessed at www.nickpope.net
