DO YOU NEED TO BE PAMPERED?

In these hectic times we all, men and women, need to relax, a visit to a luxury Hotel and Spa is the answer.

ROWHILL GRANGE & SPA

Rowhill Grange, a lovely old Country House in the Grand style, partially concealed by beautiful plants, trees and wildlife in nine acres of country gardens is breathtakingly beautiful.

THE UTOPIA SPA is what its name implies – a place where you can relax and be pampered in heavenly surroundings. A full range of massage and beauty treatments, a swimming pool, Japanese shower and Sauna are all on offer.

After my treatment a walk around the gardens, a line of eight orderly Ducks followed me. We all went up the hotel steps, past Reception and towards the Restaurant. I was the only one admitted to TRUFFLES RESTAURANT.

A choice from:
6 starters £8.00
8 Main Courses £17.00
6 Desserts £8.00

Slow Roast Belly of Pork with pan-fried Foie Gras, cream cabbage and caramelised Apple Puree. Whilst enjoying the flavour, I decided that I would like to Trifle with a Truffle, perhaps a friendly Pig could b e encouraged to stroll around the gardens nosing out some Truffles. The Chef might then compose some seasonal Truffle dishes that would live up to the name of the Restaurant.

Failing Truffles how about Fungi? There is a wonderful assortment available, Ceps, Giant Puff balls, C Harterelles, Girololes, Field Chestnut, Giant Puffballs and Button Mushrooms.

A choice of piped music was an ear- sore, a repetitious beat was giving me galloping indigestion. Could I suggest Cole Porter or a melodic triosome.

Truffles, Fungi and Cole Porter, please.

The Manager and Staff were attentive and charming. It has the Slender Gourmet recommendation

CHAMPAGNE, JAZZ and CHOCOLATE

Apart from Champagne, and jazzing it up with the Ambassador du Sabre d’Or, the astronomical highlight of the evening was:

A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN

This beautiful Table Centerpiece, surrounded by plate of little fruits, strawberries, melon balls, pineapple pieces, encourages one to spear the fruits and plunge it in to the warm, moist Chocolate Fountain.

A great way to meet people, we were all chatting, mingling, spearing and deliciously indulging. Mr. Wonderful, Scotty Snappy Snaps, favourite were Figs speared in dark chocolate

We will soon become CHOCOHOLICS; I recall as a child I preferred Chocolate Brandy Liqueurs. I am attending more Chocolate Events next week.
