SALLY FARMILOE-NEVILLE

Potential Unlimited

The most fashionable event last month was the BAFTA TV AWARDS. Ever genial and hilarious host GRAHAM NORTON took the fashion prize for the gents in a chic black and white tuxedo and the telly ladies dazzled in all sorts of ravishing gowns.
The younger female stars (SKINS, etc) favoured vintage sparkle and mini skirts, whereas the more mature actresses went for darker colours and longer lengths. DAWN FRENCH and JENNIFER SAUNDERS, who deservedly won the BAFTA Fellowship this year, wore black and midnight blue respectively while DAME HELEN MIRREN, who presented that award opted for black and silver. DAVINA MCCALL and SARAH ALEXANDER also favoured blue and I particularly liked pregnant and blooming TESS DALY 's fab short PHILIP LIM frockette which showed off her perfect thighs.

TESS DALY. C.r.: ROWENA CHOWDREY.

Ladies In Red never clash, even on the 'red' (usually a dark pinky red shade) carpet and newly married PATSY KENSIT HEALEY looked particularly stunning in a floor length DOLCE AND GABBANA creation.

PATSY KENSIT HEALEY. C.r.: ROWENA CHOWDREY.

It was gorgeously sunny with a gentle breeze for BAFTA's first event at THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL, right on the river – as you can see from this pic of me.

SALLY. C. r.: ROWENA CHOWDREY.

My dress, btw, is by the fabulous DOLY of Bond Street (020 7408 0010 / (www.dolylondon.com) and is my new all time favourite. Wine red with brighter red crystal beading, it's a wonderfully flattering colour for all complexions. The shape of the dress is brilliant, having bra cups and a 'body' built in – I had to get my pal, EASTENDERS' actress JOAN HOOLEY to help me in and out of it in the loo and we got some interesting looks when we emerged, but what the heck! One's figure just looks so perfect in these DOLY dresses that it's completely worth being mistaken for a native of the isle of Lesbos once in a while! (And I will be playing one of those in a feature film soon ......... watch this space.)
But a full length pic is worth a thousand mid length ones so here's the frock in all its glory.

SALLY. C.r.: ROWENA CHOWDREY.

This dress had actually been worn – twice – for fashion shoots by the stunning NANCY DELL'OLIO, a big DOLY fan, as featured in this column last month. But the same dress can look completely different on women of different colouring so don't worry, laydeez, if you bump in to a lady wearing the same dress as you at a function –  she probably looks completely different from you and it it just means she's got good taste too!
The 'NANCY' DOLY dress was a tremendous hit with everyone from newspaper ed.s to my daughter (much harder to please!) and made me feel a million dollars. I am honoured to be an Ambassador for DOLY.

My Mystic Tan, btw, was as ever supplied courtesy of THE TANNING SHOP in Kensington (020 7938 1932, ROBBIE WILLIAM's fave .) A Mystic Tan set at Medium will come out subtle, never orange and is ideal for daylight events where some fake tans are dead scary!

The most fun event for me last month was worthy new charity TEEN BOUNDARIES UK (www.teenboundaries.co.uk) 's launch at the fab STUDIO VALBONNE, organised by dynamic duo LEONIE and CHARLI, where I co-hosted, drew the raffle and conducted the auction with gorg rugger b....r DOM WALDOUCK.

Here is DOM with moi and the equally gorg NICK EADE from PROJECT CATWALK and LIZZIE CUNDY who is shortly launching a new TV show herself. My dress is by DAVID BUTLER, btw and the cute 'fascinator' is by celeb milliner DEIDA ACERO (079787 930022) who dresses the heads of SHIRLEY BASSEY, IVANA TRUMP, LADETTE TO LADIES' LIZ BREWER and WINNIE FORSYTH, to name but 4.

The delightful DAVID VAN DAY of I'M A CELEBRITY......... fame was also there on great form and here he is:

There was a great fashion show on the night with all sorts of edgy new designers showing and some stunning hats by the afore mentioned DEIDA ACERO who is currently gearing up for this year's ROYAL ASCOT which I will be covering in this column next month.

Don't forget your 'leetle footsies' if you're attending summer events in this season's revealing sandals, wedgies and mules – you absolutely must have regular pedicures.
I recently had my best ever pedicure at the gorg KOSMETICA clinic in Cheval Place, Knightsbridge (020 7225 5050 / www.kosmetica.org.uk), under the auspices of stunning salon owner DEBORAH. The lovely therapist ERIKA pampered my feet, toes and nails to relaxed perfection, leaving them soft, smooth and feather light. Then she painted the toenails a delicate summer pink and my feet were ready to face the world. The colour lasted several weeks, which is the sign of a perfect pedicure and I will definitely be returning to KOSMETICA to try some of their other fab treatments – not just excellent manis and pedis but also facials, massages, microdermabrasion, peels, detoxes and  endermologie.
A real little gem right in the heart of Knightsbridge, just opposite HARRODS.

If you cannot get to a salon regularly (Hello, Mandy in Exmoor!) you need to invest in the amazing CHAMPNEYS OASIS FOOTSPA, which has everything you require to give you the perfect pedi at home. You can DIY it on your own feet or pamper your playmate if you are in 'slave' mode! This sensational gadget has 3 attachments – pumice, cleansing brush and massage roller – toe-touch controls, acupressure, heat temperature maintenance and a handle for easy filling, emptying and carrying. It's not too big and bulky and is the real deal, as used in salons. My staff and I had a ball playing with the OASIS FOOTSPA – in fact we're thinking of having a Foot Fetishist's Frolic soon, now that all our feet are so soft and gorg!
At under 30 quid, the footspa makes a fab pressy.
Stockists: Champneys, House of Fraser, Selfridges and Argos.

From feet to knees – thank you for all your emails about THE PRIVATE CLNIC's amazing PIXEL LASER TREATMENT, thought to be what saved the divine DEMI MOORE's knees!

DEMI MOORE. C.r.: STAR.

I have now had my third and final knee saving treatment with the charming DR GUPTA (of EMBARASSING BODIES' fame) and currently have the knees of a teenager! DR G has also had 2 goes on my face with the magic PIXEL and I reckon I've now got a few more years – well, maybe months! – in front of the cameras. The treatment is not painful, just a bit hot and it only takes 5 days  - a long w/e - to gently peel off the top layer of skin, whereupon you have glowing baby skin underneath. You will look really healthy with nice fresh colour and the skin feels and looks absolutely peachy: brilliant.
THE PRIVATE CLINIC (98 HARLEY Street, W.1 / 020 7725 08 68) has just had a fab party to intro all their new and exciting doctors and all the equally new and exciting 'cosmetic medecine' (i.e. non surgical) treatments the doctors will be practicing at the clinic. On the day a model bravely had the new 'bust filling' treatment which was amazing – you can go up one and a half cup sizes with the treatment. This model went from a totally flat chest to a curvy one literally in front of our eyes – yikes! I predict a rampage for this one. Other – less exciting but equally successful - treatments include Botox, fillers, vein removal and permanent laser hair removal - which I will be investigating for next month's issue, dear readers.
Highly recommended.

If your knees and maybe other bits of you) are feeling a bit chubby, you may need to go on a little diet to face the shorts-and-bikini weather.
I have recently discovered the perfect sweetener – Z SWEET, the first truly all-natural, zero calories sugar substitute. Z SWEET really tastes like sugar, has no bitter after taste and, being made from natural pure ingredients, is of course much better for your figure, your skin and your teeth than sugar or other sugar substitutes.
I snuck this yummy stuff into my family's sugar supply and no-one noticed the difference – amazing – check it out at: www.Zsweet.eu

If you have a bit of cellulite, look at your diet – go onto Z SWEET immediately, get rid of fizzy drinks, fried foods and caffeine and eat lots of fresh fruit and veg.
Neither coffee nor traditional teas are good for you, btw,  but do check out DR STUART'S TRANQUILLITY caffeine free tea. With lime flower and hawthorn 'for serenity' it smells and tastes delicious and will also help you to sleep if you have an insomnia problem.
www.drstuarts.com

Talking of cellulite, my guinea pigs have been trying various anti-cellulite creams and the one that has come out top is CLARINS'LIFT-MINCEUR HAUTE DEFINITION BODY LIFT. CHLOE, who trialled this one said "I noticed a difference after just one month's use day time and night time – my orange peel definitely looks much less, well, peely! And my skin feels very smooth and has much better colour. Nothing else has ever worked but this one does."
Stockists: department stores and larger chemists.

Still on the skincare front, my trialler JO loved the new ELIZABETH ARDEN CERAMIDE GOLD ULTRA LIFT AND STRENGTHENING EYE CAPSULES. She said " my crepey skin under the eyes has really tightened with this product and my eye skin looks brighter, both above and below the eyes. I love these capsules." Hmmn, I think I might give this one a whirl myself – prevention is better than cure and it's a good idea to look after your delicate under eye skin at any age.
From department stores and larger chemists.

And if you suffer from rosacea or any kind of skin redness, try SKIN SHOP's KALME range of products, containing the magic ingredient capers and a strong anti oxidant. The range comprises a Skin Cleanser, Night Repair Cream, Day Defense Cream with an SPF of 25 and Tinted Moisturiser. My trialler KAT said " the KALME products definitely work for me. My skin looks like alabaster now!"
www.skinshop.co.uk / 0871 871 9975.

On the hair front the NATUR VITAL range is amazing. Their latest product HAIR LOSS MASK, which is chock full of vitamins and wheat germ, will help hair loss sufferers to grow their hair back and make an ordinary head of hair look thicker and fuller. You just leave the mask on for 3 minutes after washing, rinse off and the hair is both more manageable and springier. Great stuff.

And new organic range JOHN MASTERS ORGANICS is also fab – I particularly like their HIONEY AND HIBISCUS HAIR RECONSTRUCTING SHAMPOO and RECONSTRUCTOR which smells delightful and will sort our your holiday hair once and for all.
www.johnmasters.com

If your brows need to be thicker – and the current look is very BROOKE SHIELDS, let's face it  - try BROWREVIVE, a slim wand which you just brush over your brows twice a day. I tried this on a bald patch on my left eyebrow and the hair grew in again after just a few weeks. BROWREVIVE is the sister of LASHALIVE, another real goody, recently  reviewed in this column.

My fave make-up products this month are:

FAMOUS BY SUE MOXLEY's RED CARPET LIP KIT comprising everything you need to make your lips camera and kiss ready, i.e. MAGIC LIP PRIMER, GLAMOUR LIP LINER and 2 fab gloses, PAPARAZZI POUT LIP GLOSS and GLITZ CHAUFFEUR AND CHAMPAGNE LIP GLOSS . The names are yummy and the prods taste pretty yummy too as well as lasting well which is all important on big red carpet nights.

The FAMOUS BY SUE MOXLEY SHINE CONTROL BASE is another brill product if you have a shiny face problem. My trialler CHLOE said "it lasts for hours and I don't have to carry around my powder all the time now."

FAMOUS BY SUE MOXLEY fans include: DAME KELLY HOLMES, ALESHA DIXON, MICHELLE COLLINS, SUZANNE SHAW, LIZZIE CUNDY, NICKI GRAHAME, ALEX BEST and DANIELLE LLOYD.

MODELS OWN is a brand new make-up range which has just launched. I love their paint box bright, long lasting nail polishes, particularly the Red Alert and Pink Sorbet shades and their Peacock Blue and Navy Blue eye shadows – just right for this season's moody eyes.
Stockists: www.modelsownit.com / sarah@lauruspr.co.uk

Thank you for all your emails, guys – here are some cheap, cheerful and practical new products for you, kindly tested by my male trialler-in-chief SAM:

MIESSENCE's AFTER SHAVE BALM, HAIR STYLING GEL and SHOWER BATH which are all excellent, SAM says.
www.buyorganics.co.uk

SEALSKINZ' WATERPROOF BREATHABLE WINDPROOF SOCKS which are apparently just the job for the hunting, shooting and fishing fraternity. (Good pressie idea for the sportsmen in your lives, laydeez – and I don't mean indoor sports, BARRY!)
www.sealskinz.com

And finally my MEN'S FRAGRANCE OF THE MONTH is USHER RAYMOND, a frisky little eau de toilette which smells totally different on different men but is basically masculine and light both at once.
Department stores and larger chemists.

Talking of gents, thank you for your emails about my dear friend SIR DAI LLEWELLYN who sadly passed away earlier this year and whose funeral and memorial service I covered in recent months in this column. DAI is sorely missed on the social scene – he was an absolute one-off and one of life's true gentlemen.
Here he is with sultry songstress ROSE-MARIE and perky TV lady ANGELA RIPPON in the year before he died.

SIR DAI LLEWELLYN with ROSE-MARIE and ANGELA RIPPON. C.r.: private collection.

Back to fashion and my HANDBAG OF THE MONTH is another stunning DEE (www.dee.asia) creation –in red and pink 'embossed python' leather - which is the ideal size for day-into-evening wear.

DEE handbag. C.r.:DEE.

Like last month's special – the black jet evening clutch, also by DEE -  this bag is deceptively capacious whilst still looking hot. I have lifted this one from the HG Fashion Dept and am currently taking it for walkies all over town – it has quite replaced ENZO, my toy boy as my 'constant companion'!

Btw, on the subject of toy boys, have you seen CHERI, the new CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON / STEPHEN FREARS film starring MICHELE PFEIFFER? Luscious cinematography – both MS. PFEIFFER and the scenery - and music to die for.

Talking of handbags brings me to HG's new Psychic Editor, HOLLYWOOD psychic VICTORIA BULLIS. Wearing my 'Editor's hat' (size 7, pretty as a picture and designed by DEIDA ACERO of course!) I would like to warmly welcome VICTORIA on board. VICTORIA will be doing readings for all sorts of celebrities, alive and dead! Plus - from the July issue - she will be doing a 'handbag reading ' for a different celeb every month. So if you want to know what's in the stars for your fave celeb, please email us a (p.d.) pic of her with a handbag - or him with a 'manbag'!  Do have a look at VICTORIA's exciting new column after leaving this one.

Finally my BOOKS OF THE MONTH are:

The brilliant SANDRA SHEVEYs definitive MARILYN NONROE biography, THE MARILYN SCANDAL, sub titled THE BOOK HER FRIENDS ASKED ME TO WRITE (order the new, revised paperback edition direct from:sandra_shevey@yahoo.com)
I think we all now realise that the legendary MM did not commit suicide and this fascinating book helps us to understand why she simply would not have done it at that particular – hopeful – time of her life. Was she really bumped off? Was she having affairs with both the KENNEDY brothers? All will be revealed – well, as much as can be revealed without getting sued!
Whether or not you are a MARILYN fan, THE MARILYN SCANDAL gives the reader an extraordinary insight into the life of this brilliant, vulnerable, very human and very sexy star.
Riveting.

I hope you will like this fab image of MM from her early days, where she definitely looks as if she has taken a trip to the afore mantioned TANNING SHOP in Kensington!

MARILYN MONROE. C.r.: P.D.

Again this leads me back to VICTORIA BULLIS's CELEBRITY PSYCHIC column as she is doing one of her 'dead celebrity' readings for MARILYN this month – will we learn more? Will MARILYN reveal all to VICTORIA? Or will she be scared of The Big Legal Department in the Sky?! Will VICTORIA also channel THE KENNEDYs? As I write VICTORIA hasn't yet started on this fascinating bit of psychic work and I am just as much 'in suspenders' as you are, dear readers!  Do check it all out in her new column and see another gorgeous and unusual MARILYN image as well.

My second BOOK OF THE MONTH is DEAD TOMORROW by PETER JAMES (MACMILLAN), Britain's top thriller writer and 'my dear, dear friend for a million and one years', as yet another great HOLLYWOOD legend BOB FOSSE would say (VICTORIA, can you please commune with HIM next month?)
The great PETER has done it again, with this, his 5th in his DETECTIVE (now D.S.) ROY GRACE 'DEAD' series. (the fab DEAD SIMPLE, LOOKING GOOD DEAD, NOT DEAD ENOUGH and DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS are also all published by MACMILLAN.)
I am absolutely thrilled that the prolific MR JAMES has churned out another best selling DEAD tale, so hot on the heels of last year's blockbuster about 9/11, DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS. This latest one, DEAD TOMORROW is another real page turner on the gruesome subject of the trade in human organs. As usual all the characters, the regulars and the new ones, are 'dead' real (sorry!) and the story moves along at a gripping pace, full of thrills and spills, shocks and CLEO's frocks (that's D.S. GRACE's girlfriend for new readers.) I am currently three quarters of the way through DEAD TOMORROW and am 'dying' (sorry) to know what happens at the end. DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS had a very BODY HEAT ending...................will DEAD TOMORROW follow up that twist in the tale? I will let you know next month, book fans - sadly my current spate of Telly work is getting in the way of my reading!

The good news is that I will be covering the dynamic PETER JAMES's  talk at KENSINGTON LIBRARY on June 23rd (bookable throught the library - 020 7361 2029)) for INTV and will also let you know when and where you will be able to view that great epic next month.

Still on the book front, this year's LONDON BOOK FAIR at Earl's Court was bigger and better than ever. One of the most exciting innovations was my own publisher TATIANA WILSON of DELANCEY PRESS's launch of the new, democratic PEOPLE'S BOOK PRIZE (www.peoplesbookprize.com)
This award (or awardS as there are 3 categories) will be voted for purely by the public - there will be no judging panel, just readers who can vote for the books and authors they love. It's a brilliant idea and may well replace RICHARD AND JUDY'S BOOK PRIZE - watch this space. In the meantime do check out the news report my studio, W6 did about THE PEOPLE'S BOOK PRIZE  - just go to YOU TUBE, find w6studio.com and you will see it, as well as some of our other great works!
