 Chinese New Year
When I was in Hong Kong over Christmas I saw everywhere little stuffed animals in the shape of a tiger; all had red brocade outfits (I brought one back and have it sitting in my office!).

According to a new World Wildlife Fund (WWF) report, tiger numbers have fallen by more than 70 percent in the last decade. 2010 is the Year of the Tiger in Chinese astrology. Actually, it is the Year of the Golden Tiger ... and gold is associated in every part of the world with wealth. I'm mentioning this as according to the Chinese, this is a year of much better luck than last year! This year is one to be active - seizing opportunities, making the most of our personal & very individual talents. Everything happens quickly and dramatically in a Tiger year - blink and you could miss an important chance of a lifetime!
People born in the Year of the Tiger are authoritative, courageous, emotional and intense ... Demi Moore and Tom Cruise are both Tigers. As is Queen Elizabeth II !
When I began writing about The Queen in the last issue I was not even thinking, in any way, shape or form re Chinese New Year. I had not even decided to go back to Hong Kong for Christmas yet (I lived in Hong Kong for about 8 years). When writing this column, I searched for people born in the Year of the Tiger; I had no expectations about anyone I might find.

Valentine's Day
 People love coming to this column to find something they might be able to win. And I love helping people connect with something that makes them feel special.
Someone I have a lot of respect for and who was featured in one of my earlier issues, is offering giveaways of her hand-crafted rings one for Valentine's Day and one for St Patrick's Day!

St Patrick's Day
 People associate St Patrick's Day with the concept of luck. An interesting cd series, out since the 1980s by a very well known seminar leader, Brian Tracy, is called 'The Luck Factor.' It is full of tips on how to become luckier! (To me, luck is just another ideal or attribute: a frequency. Another way to say this, is that it is a vibration or an energy) (www.theluckfactor.com)

Mothering Sunday
 This year Mothering Sunday is 14 March.
Mothering Sunday has been celebrated in England on the fourth Sunday of Lent since at least the 16th century. It seems to have begun by people visiting their nearest big church, called the Mother Church, on this day. Apparently, this was also the only day each year when girls and boys 'in service' were allowed to visit their mother. So a friend who is an expert in that time frame tells me!
SPA REVIEW
 The Daniel Hersheson Spa & Salon is on the newly re-designed 4th floor of Harvey Nichols.
I have had treatments at Daniel Hersheson off and on for about 4 years. On a recent trip I went for a quick anti-jet lag appointment with my all-time favourite there, Anjou. She mentioned that she has been reading my column, and suggested I contact Debbie Thomas about her revolutionary skin treatments to see if I wanted to mention her in my spa section. She was raving about Debbie so much, that I did.
Debbie Thomas has developed an incredibly advanced skin-care system. She has spent over 10 years developing her technique. While working for a well-known aesthetic doctor, who only did medical treatments, she realized that there was a place for sophisticated medical treatments (including machines), as well as holistic (much gentler) treatments.
 What she has come up with is sensational. I can absolutely state that in all my years of getting facials she is the best I have ever encountered. I am not exaggerating one bit. Her bespoke treatments include red light therapy, hydro-dermabrasion (much easier on the skin than regular dermabrasion), micro-needling, radio frequencies and numerous more. She has peels galore; I had the salicylic acid peel. It does sting for a moment, but removes surface layers of skin, and leaves you with a smooth, healthy glow.
One thing I like about Debbie, she does not push any products on you (rare). And, she is not wedded to any one brand: she works with products from many different companies.

MORE CELEBRITIES GIVING BACK
This is a follow-up to what I had written last month re celebrities doing charity work during the holidays.
So many celebrities are opening their hearts and wallets in support of relief for Haiti that I decided to mention some of their various charity efforts. Here is a very partial list of who is doing what (... as of early February):
Simon Cowell has spearheaded a new single to support "Helping Haiti," with stars such as Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Wyclef Jean, Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis. (Link)
George Clooney partnered with MTV to host the telethon, "Hope for Haiti Benefit Concert," with U2, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen and more. (YouTube)
Wyclef Jean, singer / producer, and from Haiti, flew there the day after the earthquake. His organisation, "Yele" has raised well over a £1 million. BTW I met him for the first time about 3 years ago; I knew immediately that he had a wonderful very open heart ... (yele.org)
Tiger Woods donated a cargo plane full of supplies, including a mobile hospital; the cost exceeded £2 million. (www.thedailybeast.com)
Alyssa Milano donated £30 thousand through the organisation "US Fund for Unicef." (www.unicefusa.org)
John Travolta piloted his own Boeing 707 with wife, actress Kelly Preston, and a team of doctors and ministers from the Church of Scientology, as well as six tonnes of ready-to-eat military rations and medical supplies. (www.youtube.com)
Comedian Ben Stiller already had an association with Haiti before the earthquake. His organisation "Stiller Strong," raised money for the "Save the Children's Ceverine Community School Project." The school was completely demolished. (stillerstrong.org)
Olivia Wilde is co-founder of "Artists for Peace and Justice," a group dedicated to building schools and orphanages in Haiti. Diane Lane, Charlize Theron, Oliver Stone, James Franco, Josh Brolin and Mario Bello are all on the advisory board. She offers to send a personal video message to anyone who donates $200 to the organisation. (www.cnn.com)

Former President Bill Clinton, the UN Special Envoy for Haiti is working directly with government officials. (www.clintonfoundation.org)
While I was working on the column, Mother Teresa suddenly appeared to me and asked that I quote her, with the following: "I am doing a lot of my usual work; it just happens to be that I am not doing it any longer on the physical plane." I jotted down her quote verbatim, but then forget to add it. While I was editing the column she came to me again and told me that it would mean a lot to her if I would add the quote using the exact words she had given me previously. Even though the quote doesn't seem to be anything scintillating, I know enough to understand that there is a frequency or vibration to every sound, letter, number of words in a sentence and so on. I suggest re-reading this quote several times and allowing the hidden messages to sync into deep levels of your psyche; there is a lot power behind the simple words she gave me.
I am looking to add new features that will be of interest to my readers. One particular segment that I am reviewing is a section re creating more prosperity consciousness / abundance, via a well-known leader in the field, Steve Nobel. Maria, based outside London, has really started a new trend ... allowing customers to choose their own design from a variety of sizes, colours, leathers, hardware and lining materials. I love the idea of getting people to express their creativity as they come up with their own unique, personal statement.
