When it was announced last year that this year's Celebrity Big Brother and the 'common as muck' Big Brother series would be the last ones, there was great shock with the public and media alike. The tried -though tired- and tested format had seemingly run its course with dwindling audience figures confirming the fact. Thus, it came as a surprise that Celebrity Big Brother 7 was one of the most popular ever. When I saw VINNIE JONES, IVANA TRUMP, bible basher STEPHEN BALDWIN, STEPHANIE BEECHAM et al make their way in the Big Brother house, I thought it was a stroke of genius. The shenanigans in the house were good as always but it had added intrigue with STEPHEN BALDWIN'S Christian wisdom and knowledge of the Bible. OK so he sounds like an evangelist trying to convert his fellow inmates at every given opportunity. It was entertaining nevertheless. The complete dark horse ALEX REID -Jordan's boyfriend A.K.A. Katie Price- won Celebrity Big Brother 7. Complete turnaround. From a complete prat to winner and now bigger prat. Crowd favourite -for most of show- VINNIE JONES aided ALEX on his course to victory by being so big headed and over confident. Though good fun, he went over the top with his self worth, and truly believes he's a Hollywood 'A-lister'. Ha ha ha ha ha.
Big Brother contestants in final.
You're not Vin! You've done OK making certain films and having 'barely speaking' bit parts in good American films but you're still a 'Z-lister' in the US.
I like Vinnie. I like some of the films he has been in. But his ego went through the roof and the British public saw this and punished him. Even DANE BOWERS beat VINNIE JONES! Yes, DANE BOWERS!! For your information he sang a few songs many years ago. Boy band etc. I thought I'd better explain, as most of you won't know who he is. Vinnie was fuming! He couldn't believe that lowly DANE BOWERS AND ALEX REID could better him -by public votes- in the Big Brother House. It was rewarding to see and over-inflated ego being popped. Model Jordan certainly respects her boyfriend Alex more. She is reportedly planning a £2 million wedding to the cage-fighter. There are also rumours that Channel 5 might pick up the baton for the Big Brother series after Channel 4 pulls out...I must say that it was a great finale to the 'Celebrity' series with loads of fireworks. I had a perfect place in the front press area and was able to photograph everyone with ease. Davina McCall as always was the perfect hostess. Always ensuring the contestants stop right in front of me.
Robert Downey Jr.
The 67 Golden Globes kicked off with a downpour, and the stars arrived to the wet redcarpet. The event was again a star studded affair with the likes of SANDRA BULLOCK, JEFF BRIDGES,
PENELOPE CRUZ, MERYL STREEP, PAUL McCARTNEY, MATT DAMON, ROBERT DE NIRO, LEONARDO DI CAPRIO, MARTIN SCORSESE, MEL GIBSON, REESE WITHERSPOON, ROBERT DOWNEY Jr, HARRISON FORD, RICKY GERVAIS -still getting used to it!- KIEFFER SUTHERLAND and JULIA ROBERTS to name but a few. Most of the big names as always were wearing Armani. Thanks for my suit Giorgio. Grazie mille. Vorrei!
De Niro, Scorsese, Di Caprio.
Reese Witherspoon.
Penelope Cruz
GERVAIS hosted the event to great controversy as some of the audience and certain critics didn't get the joke. I thought he was quite amusing, not the best host ever but good all the same. For example, He quipped on stage: "You can be a little child, a little Asian child, with no possessions, no money, but you see a picture of ANGELINA JOLIE and you think Mummy!" I think the majority of the audience approved. The main awards that matter -to me- are:
Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia
Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - Robert Downey Jnr for Sherlock Holmes
Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) - Sandra Bullock for The Blind Side
Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) - Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart
Best Director James Cameron for Avatar
Best Film: Avatar.
Jodie Foster.
The fashion circus hits Europe and the Paris Fashion Week didn't disappoint. The Giorgio Armani show was a reasonably star studded events with guests like TINA TURNER and ANNE HATHAWAY amongst others.
Tina Turner, Giorgio Armani, Elsa Patakis.
Not long now for the London instalment of the fashion entourage with the London Fashion Week. It will be a very busy week as so many events are thrown in at the same time. Even the BAFTAS clash with the best LFW show of VIVIENNE WESTWOOD.
Anne Hathaway.
The Invictus premiere took place once again in London's Leicester Square. The film directed by uber star CLINT EASTWOOD, and starring MATT DAMON and MORGAN FREEMAN, tells of Nelson Mandela, who in his first term as the South African President, initiates a unique venture to unite the apartheid-torn land: enlist the national rugby team on a mission to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup. They succeeded. End.
Clint Eastwood
Matt Damon
Morgan Freeman.
The premiere itself was OK but it was begging for more female talent with nice dresses as for me it just turned into a male suit competition. It looked like OAP's going to Bingo. Despite the main male talent, I doubt I will sell the pictures well. We shall see.
And finally, whilst going to collect my nearest and dearest at the airport I happened to see the infamous ex-lothario RUSSELL BRAND with fiancee KATY PERRY. He told me he had just arrived from India where he had been on holiday with singer Katy. Exclusives all round!
Over and out, see ya next month.
