Winter - A time to Migrate to the Sun
After a fairly miserable summer, for weather that is, it is time to leave for Florida. The dread of flying, not a fear o f flying but of the actual madness of airports, prompted my husband and I to take a cruise. So we sailed on the 'Independence of the Sea' from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale where we live in the winter. It is the largest ship in the world and can accommodate over 4,000 passengers with around 1,400 crew. I have always liked the small cruise ships and really didn't know what to expect, and even thought it would be too big. In fact, it didn't seem so large after all and the décor was really very tasteful. We had a lovely room with a balcony and complete privacy where one could sunbathe "au natural". The trip was for 13 nights and it was a real wrench to get off the ship after such luxury, as everything is at hand, with 26 bars and restaurants an incredible fitness room and fabulous service. The only disturbing factor was that you could see what England would be like in a few years time which was very worrying. Whilst we were on board the news reported that in 2010 nine out of ten people will be obese and the cruise was like a vision of the future. I have nothing against people who are overweight but the bad health was all too apparent. Many were in wheelchairs and unable to walk and some had thighs the size of a man's waist. It seemed like a third of the passengers were obese but it was probably about 15% which is still extraordinarily high. We noted that none were at our lectures on board on 'weight loss'.
This reality-check makes the health department and medical advisors' remarks about overweight people needing to exercise more and the reason they are overweight because of sedentary lifestyles seem ridiculous. This propaganda is pathetic because you just need to compare the dates of when supermarkets started the epidemic of extending the shelf-life of food to when people started getting fat. Their weight started to increase, slowly at first, about 6 years ago (it takes years to start to show) and then accelerated quickly with each year so now it is quite normal to see obese people. The processed foods in all our supermarkets that are chemically adjusted with newer and stronger additives to extend the shelf life, make you hungry, make bland food taste good and give us cheap food are really to blame.
Buy One Car and get one 'Free'!
That is how bad the recession in the USA. Yes, you can buy a big gas-guzzling car and get a small car free. I decided to save by=2 0cutting out an unnecessary expense and stopped drinking alcohol. I did this on one of my cruises before as it is really tempting to eat and drink to access with all the temptations. I counted up how much I saved on the 13 night cruise alone and it came to a staggering £1,500. Fizzy water was my replacement for champagne and my only expense was to pre-tip the bar staff. Since it is so successful and easy with hypnosis I have to decided to keep it up. The good news is that I can drink with others and feel high without any negative side effects.
The Pesticide Nun Wins her Case Against the Government
When Prince Charles said food should cost more, he was right. Real food isn't cheap. It costs to grow it and prepare it and always has. So what have we done with our cheap food, which incidentally contains very few essential nutrients (having been destroyed by the chemicals)? We have to eat twice as much! So what are we really saving? But there is light at the end of the tunnel coming from a pretty slightly-built brunette, Georgina Downs, who won an award for 'Woman of the Year' and is now being named by20the press as the British Erin Brockovich (remember the film starring Julia Roberts about winning a legal victory over pollutants?) who used determination and bravery to help us from a potential poisonous early death. I have featured her before with her battle to sue the British Government and was ecstatic when I read in the cruise newspaper that she had won her fight against the Government. In fact the government have been ordered by the judge to look into the dangers of pesticide spraying. It was such a coincidence as I had been lecturing on-board with my husband and mentioned her name and her plight the day before, never dreaming (but hoping) she could win.
If you have noticed that a lot of people seem to be waddling about, usually due to operations for new knees or hips, it's not surprising to find the European Commission acknowledging that a long-term exposure to pesticides can lead to cancer and neurological effects for those living in the locality to sprayed fields and many studies are linking our food with brittle bones which is what Georgina is suffering from and why she started her campaign. She found that she had blisters in her mouth and then her legs gave way. It was a long time before she realized it was the patricides.
She is called the 'pesticide nun' because she and her father wear white protective clothing when walking across their garden when the farmer has been spraying pesticides. The lettuces next to her home are sprayed up to 30 times a month and go into your supermarkets with a healthy-looking brand name. At a lunch together she told me that she has proven that pesticides stay in your system. She was tested and they are in her stomach area. That is why you will never see me eating a lettuce in a restaurant unless it's organic I don't want to knowingly eat poison.
Doctors have a new magic Pill for health that actually works!
In an article in the US the doctors are now advising that the new health 'pill' is organic food and advising not to eat processed food or anything with a shelf-life.
It takes brave people like Georgina to point it out and battle on. You can find out lots more information on her website at http://www.pesticidescampaign.co.uk or use Google to find links to media articles. I really advise you all to start seriously taking c are of what you eat. Someone on the cruise asked me, "But is organic food all it is cracked up to be?" I looked at him incredulously and replied that organic means 'real' food and did he actually think chemical food would be better for him? That's what the food company propaganda is about and my husband should know as he wrote about the most dangerous person in the world who used propaganda. In his book 'Who Financed Hitler' he quotes Hitler as saying that if you tell a lie loud enough and long enough it will become a truth.
Stop drinking Red Bull or you will die doctors warn
School girl Naomi Hayes, was drinking up to 7 energy drinks a day has been warned to beat her addiction or risk a heart attack. While she was on holiday she collapsed and fell unconscious with an abnormally high heart rate. The cause was said to be her over-indulgence of Red Bull.
Caffeine intoxication is recognized by the World Health Organization as a medical condition. Symptoms include anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, stomach upset, tremors and rapid heartbeat. In rare cases it can be fatal.
A few years ago I treated a fellow that was hooked on Red Bull, he was in a dreadful state. Hypnosis was able to rid him of the habit and he now has a very successful career. The dangers of energy drinks including Red Bull has been featured on the news in the US showing how it is effecting teenagers and how it can accelerate to heartbeat to a dangerous level.
Pills blamed for Gulf War syndrome
An investigation into the causes=2 0of Gulf War syndrome has concluded that the illness was caused by troops being given nerve gas pills and being exposed to pesticides. The study mandated by Congress in the U.S found that the most likely cause of the illness was pyridostigmine bromide (PB) in protection pills given to American and British troops to counter the Soman nerve gas Saddam Hussein could have used in the 1991 Gulf War. US soldiers were also affected by neurotoxins in pesticides used extensively in preparation for operations.
The findings led to immediate calls for official action on both sides of the Atlantic. Wasn't it blindingly obvious with so many troops ill? However, I did not know that pesticides were involved, once again a major health disorder has been attributed to Pesticides.
