The summer season is in full swing here in the UK. One of the most enjoyable events last month was THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION's fab summer dinner dance and awards ceremony at THE MILLENNIUM HOTEL where 2 of my favourite former work mates, LESLIE PHILLIPS and JOHN CHALLIS deservedly won awards, as well as dynamic HERITAGE FOUNDATION boss himself, DAVID GRAHAM.
2 of Britain's most legendary performers entertained us BILL WYMAN and his RHYTHM KINGS and ROBIN GIBB with BILL' s band and the evening was truly 'magical', as the late great MICHAEL JACKSON would say.
Other celeb guests included PJ PROBY, DAVID JENSEN and MARK PERRY.

BTW if you, like me, fancy the adorable BILL WYMAN's rose tinted shades, you will lurve the new FOSTER GRANT credit crunch beating collection of celeb inspired sunnies in all sorts of different frames and densities. I particularly like the 'crystal' decorated ones myself and, at the time of writing, am just off to BARBADOS with a whole wardrobe of FOSTER GRANTS, including AVIATORS and JACKIE O s.
FOSTER GRANTS have been around since the 70s and have been worn by such legends as ELVIS and RAQUEL WELCH who is back on board with FG this season (ELVIS might be slightly harder to pin down for an endorsement!).

I was sorry to miss a recent SPARKS charity shopping evening at DONNA KARAN but here is a pic of their Royal Guest of Honour, HRH PRINCESS MICHAEL opening the event with her usual grace and style.

One event I happily didn't miss this year was the exclusive HURLINGHAM CLUB's fab SALON PRIVE Ladies' Day where stunning women vied for attention with some of the world's most beautiful classic cars in the club's verdant grounds.
I waited 9 years for a membership of HURLINGHAM, by which time my 4 sponsors had all either died or been blackballed from the club! However it was worth the wait and the club certainly holds some excellent events.
All the ladies looked divine on Ladies' Day, none more so than the gal who judged the best dressed competition with great aplomb, gorgeous violinist LINZI STOPPARD and here she is with moi and her handsome husband, WILL, son of Britain's most famous playwright, the brilliant TOM STOPPARD.

LAVERA's ANTI-AGE SUNSCREEN / SPF 15, containing jojoba and aloe vera is wonderful. I usually only use 50+ myself but I found this one was perfect in the currently rather weak! - British sun. The extraordinary ROBIN ANDERSON has done it again with his latest bonkbuster thriller VERSUS (ATHENA PRESS), set in the world of mainly gay - porn movies. VERSUS is quite the naughtiest, dirtiest and most shocking novel I have ever read I thought I was unshockable until I read it! Suave author ROBIN is an extremely witty writer and a master of the double entendre and it's a rollicking (or should that be bollocking?!) good tale. I can quite understand why it's one of GAY NEWS's fave books at the mo. The characters in VERSUS are exceptionally well drawn and, although I know nothing whatsoever about the gay porno films scene (promise!), I found myself getting quite fond of 'massive' porn star, 'ABEL SEMEN' and dying to know what happened next at 'STICKITIN PRODUCTIONS'! VERSUS is a real page turner and hilariously funny you have to read it to believe it. As with the talented ROBIN's previous great oevres, RED SNAPPER and SEBASTIAN AND SELINE, I can envisage it as a fillum produced by STICKITIN PRODUCTIONS, perhaps?

Have YOU got a 'dawgie' yet? If not, and you have the room and the time for a pet, why not get one? They really don't answer back all they do is 'howl, chew, dig, whimper, sniff, snap and bark', as my aforementioned pal STEVE of the FAMILY DOGG band always says!

As I often tell people, I am sadly less than perfect. Therefore I must apologise for not one, but 2 mistakes that I made in this column last month:
Firstly I do believe that I said that divine celeb titfer designer LOUIS MARIETTE was a judge on MAKE ME A SUPERMODEL. Of course that is absolute drivel MMAS was the old model show with RACHEL HUNTER and JASMINE LENNARD and co. LOUIS' show is of course the totally wonderful and top rated new model show, BRITAIN'S NEXT TOP MODEL. BNTM recently threw a lavish end of season party attended by my 17 year old daughter JADE who banned moi but reported that it was a fab event. The adorable LOUIS emailed me to say that JADE was "blossoming into a beautiful young lady and sooooooo charming" = yes, darling, de apple don't fall far from de tree, haha!
Secondly, I must apologise to all the remaining living stars and the producer's son for writing that the world's most famous film GONE WITH THE WIND is now '75 years young.' It is of course a mere stripling of 70, as HOLLYWOOD producer PATRICK CURTIS who played BABY BEAU in the film pointed out in an email, saying "The film is celebrating it's 70th anniversary! I mean, my dear, how old do you think I am???" Well, to be honest, the lovely PATRICK, the man who discovered and married afore mentioned glam sunnies-wearer RAQUEL WELCH, looks 30 years younger and I, as a health and beauty expert who know his diet well, put that down to the fact that he has never drunk alcohol, smoked or taken drugs! I guess we had all better now totter off to DR MARIECLAIRE WILSON for a spot of nutritional and lifestyle advice super pronto if we all want to look as good as PC when we are nippers of 70!

Finally, thank you for all your hundreds of emails about the late, great MICHAEL JACKSON, THE KING OF POP and an HG Cover Boy of course. There will never be another MJ and the furore his tragic early passing caused rivalled that of PRINCESS DIANA.
We can all remember THE PRINCESS OF WALES' extraordinary State Funeral and I will certainly remember the day of MJ's - equally extraordinary but different - Memorial Service. I was in a villa in CANNES, as a guest of the gorgeous DR ANNA, LADY BROCKLEBANK and we didn't know what time MJ would hit French TV. Then MONSIEUR LE PATRON bounced in to tell us with great excitement - for MICHAEL was also much loved in La Belle France -"le show de MICHAEL commencera a six heures cinquante." And so it did well, almost the French station had hours of footage of black limos on the highway and coverage of the first 2 artistes only before their allotted broadcast time was up. Thank goodness, then, for BBC2 who filmed the whole deeply emotional, terribly sad but wonderful event where the world had a chance to see such superstars as STEVIE WONDER, LIONEL RICHIE, MARIAH CAREY, QUEEN LATIFAH, BROOKE SHIELDS and USHER, our little BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT star, SHAHEEN and MOTOWN supremo BERRY GORDY paying their respects to 'LE ROI DE LA POP and his family.
I can imagine myself in a few months time being asked to consider various channels' coverage of 'The Memorial Service for MICHAEL JACKSON' for the BAFTA TV awards and I must remember that C5 only got three quarters of it and BBC2 got the lot. Happily HARRODS have got a Memorial DVD of BBC2's 2 hour version which they are now selling instore and I was able to view this with my lovely gal pals, dynamic engineer VIRGINIA and luscious actress WENDI, several boxes of Kleenex and even more (it WAS terribly sad!) bottles of champagne and rose on my sofa back home in London.
J. RANDY TARABORRELLI'S 1991 biog, MICHAEL JACKSON THE MAGIC AND THE MADNESS, updated in 2003 and 2004 is now selling like hot cakes again and is due for a serious update and I predict a whole slew of MJ books out any minute.
MJ'S Best British Friend, world famous spoon bender URI GELLER did a fascinating TV show on the singer, where he made his private archive of video footage, including the Renewal of his Marriage Vows service where JACKO was best man, available. Lovely URI was very fond of his pal and at one stage broke down on film, poor thing.
MARTIN BASHIR's dreaded LIVING WITH MICHAEL JACKSON (GRANADA) got a rerun and JACQUES PERETTI interviewed a lot of peeps in LA about the awful prescription drugs business. This one will run and run.
We will all miss the greatest pop artiste of our era big time but we will always have his music. HG's Psychic Editor VICTORIA BULLIS has been channelling MJ but she does not want to reveal anything yet out of respect and has sworn me to secrecy too all I can say is watch this space, MICHAEL fans...............or maybe I should say 'watch VICTORIA's space'!
