The Great British Summer chunders on with, thankfully, a bit more sun now. If you don't like our weather, wait 5 mins – it will change! You just have to be prepared on the sartorial elegance front.
If you do venture into sandals in inclement weather, try the sturdy EARTH 'Tranquil' ones that NATASHA KAPLINSKY has favoured throughout her pregnancy. They improve your posture, tighten your thighs and help to ward off cellulite. Check them out at:

Of course you must have at least one bikini for those wonderful moments when the sun does shine! Check out NAOMI CAMPBELL's new endorsement, MISS BIKINI at: www.missbikini.com

ROYAL ASCOT this year was a trifle chilly but that didn't stop keen celebs and socialites strutting their fashion stuff on the manicured lawns.
My photo shows EASTENDERS' JOAN HOOLEY, socialite NORA SEROUSSI, entrepreneur NIGEL DEAN and I sporting FANNIANN (www.fanniann.co.uk) and SEROUSSI suits and a FAVOURBROOK waistcoat respectively over our woolly vests in Car Park Number One on Ladies' Day. My stunning titfer was by DEIDA ACERO (www.deidahats.com), who is now the UK's premier milliner and made all the Ascot hats for such lovely ladies as IVANA TRUMP and WILNELIA FORSYTH this year.
JOAN, NORA, SALLY and NIGEL at ASCOT.
WIMBLEDON was also an all weather job this year as NADAL struggled through various 'rain stops play' moments before finally beating FEDERER, while BORG looked on to make sure his record didn't get beaten. The big fashion news was that RAFA has finally gotten around to whites – and maybe that was a winning move! The stunning VENUS and SERENA WILLIAMS wore even smaller dresses and even larger earrings this year and dazzled the tennis afficionados in more ways than one.

Other CELEB NEWS includes:
The pulchritudinous SHILPA SHETTY is currently on a BOLLYWOOD extravaganza, THE UNFORGETTABLE TOUR and can be seen at the 02 in London on 24th August.
SHILPA SHETTY. C.r.: UNFORGETTABLE.
SHILPA also recently posed with our PM GORDON BROWN but, for some reason, I find I can resist publishing a pic of him.
However I have no such qualms about including an image of PM In Waiting (trust me on this!) DAVID CAMERON and here he is at the recent CLWCA Luncheon hosted by CLWCA MP MARK FIELD posing with dynamic entrepreneur STEVE DIGVA.
DAVID CAMERON and STEVE DIGVA. C.r.: NORMA MURRAY.
Cute Welsh singer DUFFY goes from strength to strength and her amazing hit song, 'MERCY' is now being used as part of the new XBOX singing game, 'LIPS'. Check it out at: www.xbox.com/lips

Supermodel GISELE BUNDCHEN has just shot a fab commercial for AQUASCUTUM with a brill soundtrack by new band, THE TROPHY HEARTS. Check this band out – you will love them: www.myspace.com/thetrophyhearts.
And then there's SJP and her mole. Has she or hasn't she had it removed? There's no shame in having the odd mole – in fact it is a sign of good skin. However some of them look like spots in pix, as my agent pointed out to me when she persuaded me to have my two little 'neves' removed ages ago. The procedure is painless but you should get it done by a respected cosmetic surgeon as some of the moles have long 'tails' and can be tricky to remove. The best guy in Harley Street for mole removal is LUCIAN ION – 020 7486 77 57.
Now here's the SEX AND THE CITY star WITH her little friend:
SJP. C.r: PARAMOUNT.
Talking of SATC, the stylist from the film, TARA SMITH recently launched her excellent hair products over here with a delightful tea party organised by the aptly named GLOSS COMMUNICATIONS at the elegant HEMPEL HOTEL, owned by Her Gorgeousness ANOUSHKA HEMPEL, aka LADY WEINBERG. TARA's slogan is 'tested on film stars not on animals' and the range is all natural and organic. The TARA SMITH clientele includes DEMI MOORE. LINDSAY LOHAN, JAMIE LEE CURTIS, ANGELINA JOLIE and ELLE MACPHERSON. Celebs who turned up for the Brit launch included ROSARIO DAWSON, NATALIE IMBRUGLIA, LISA B and YASMIN LE BON. My pic shows ROSARIO DAWSON who intro'd TARA over the mic at the party with HG cover girl LIZ FULLER.
ROSARIO and LIZ. C.r.: CHARLOTTE ELLIS.
The amazing TARA SMITH range will be sold in TESCO. We all left the party with lovely TS goody bags and I have to say my wayward locks are responding wonderfully to her 'Big Baby' Gentle Shampoo and Conditioner.
Once your hair is in good condition, keep it that way. If you need to smooth and straighten it try REMINGTON's fab new Protect And Shine Pro Slim Ceramic 230 (to give it its full name!) straightener which is Teflon coated and contains something called 'Nano-Silver for healthy looking hair'. We all tried this handy new gadget in the office and it really makes your locks super smooth without damaging the hair one iota. Brill.
By the way has anyone seen GOK WAN's new hairstyle? The fashion guru has had a trendy short at the sides, long on top trim by stylist JAMIE STEVENS at celeb hairdresser ERROL DOUGLAS's chic salon (18 Motcomb Street, Knightsbridge, SW1 / 020 7235 01 10). So now he's looking cool for the summer and here he is, with JAMIE.

Talking of chic and trendy guys, a huge thank you to all my male readers – I am thrilled that so many of you are reading this column. Perhaps I am becoming a 'fag hag', as SAMANTHA wondered in SEX AND THE CITY! Cool! In answer to your queries, boys, there are lots of great guys' products out there.
I recently discovered a great new French range called LA COMPAGNIE DE PROVENCE whose products contain pure olive oil and lavender and all sorts of good things. I particularly like their Lavande Biologique hand cream which smells divine and not at all 'maiden aunt'y! And my male trialler MAX loved the Extrait D'Olive after shave balm which he said made his face much more aceptable to his girlfriend. Check em out at:
www.lcdpmarseille.com
vraiement fantastique, mes amis!
If you need a one stop English shop, guys, go to BOOTS – they have a huge range of fab men's products. PETER, my more mature gentleman trialler (I have had to stop calling them 'guinea pigs' – the RSPCA felt it was demeaning to those adorable little fluffy creatures!) 'particularly liked the BOOTS Time Delay Facial Kit and Moisturiser which he said made his skin feel much softer and more strokeable............
He also liked all of the BOTANICS Men's range available from BOOTS.
BOOTS also stock some excellent lines in 'sunless tanning'for girls and boys. MAX favours their no 7 For Men Gradual Tan Face which has an SPF of 15 – very practical – and is, MAX says, completely idiot proof for learner male fake tanners.
I, on the other hand, use their MAKE BELIEVE Airbrush Bronzer or the NO 7 Quick Dry Body Spray. The advantages of not having to use your hands for fake tanning are obvious – bye, bye, Tango palms!
If you want a quick fix for pasty white legs, try the NO 7 Stocking Cream which washes off easily and the 17 Instant Glow Wash Off Self Tan Skin Bronzer with shimmer is perfect with revealing summer frocks.
My lady triallers also love BOOTS' brand new NO 7 Liplicious sparkly lip glosses in light summer colours which reportedly taste really yummy and last for ages.
My other most interesting, new and unusual products for August are:
PATCH IT – natural reflexology style plasters you put on the soles of your feet at night to get rid of your toxins and give you a sound night's sleep. I tried these myself and the – delightfully wood smelling - patches had gone black in the morning so I guess I must be pretty toxic! But I had the best ever sleep and felt fab the next day. Now I am hooked on PATCH ITs. Give em a whirl.
Stockists: THE NUTRI CENTRE, JOHN BELL AND CROYDON and:
www.patch-it.info
MINIKINI Colour – a colouring kit for pubic hair (well, what would YOU call it?!) to make your collar and cuffs match. This is a great idea with lots of different shades to choose from. My trialler ROSIE went for Copper and said the product was easy and quick to use and now her downstairs is looking better than her upstairs!
www.minikinicolour.com
WITCH STICK – a fast working pimple zapper which smells fresh, doesn't sting and gets rid of those naughty zits in 24 hours.
www.witchskincare.com
PYCNOGENOL – a food supplement which prevents UV damage and photo-ageing from the inside. Our mature trialler LUCY says her skin is actually looking better this year in spite of being a year older and is convinced these easy to take, one a day capsules are helping. Good idea.
www.pycnogenol.com
ZOTRIM Herbal Weight Loss pills – my gal DEBBIE has been taking 2 a day for a month and has lost 10 pounds without conscious dieting and says she feels full and satisfied after smaller meals when taking the capsules.

If you need a bit more than just slimming down to get the perfect bod, you may need to try SMARTLIPO. The trialler JACKIE, 51 complained of 'pockets of stubborn fat and elephant skin' after 4 kids but says she now looks great 6 months later with a slim figure and tightened skin. JACKIE had the painless procedure at THE WIMPOLE AESTHETIC CENTRE – 020 7224 2247 /www.wimpoleaesthetics.co.uk
which has an excellent reputation for all sorts of beauty procedures.
The best show I have compered recently was the fab FASHION AND FAST CAR EXTRAVAGANZA organised by GOODLIFE MEDIA at the glitzy LONDON GROUP showrooms in Park Lane. The show was co - sponsored by REGENT, SEABOURN, SEVEN SEAS and DE LUXE cruise lines and featured 20 gorg models including celebs CHELSEY BAKER, LIZ BREWER, NINA CARTER, LIZ FULLER, CINDY JACKSON, JADE, JILLY JOHNSON and SHINI and Beauty Queens MISS ITALY, MISS CAMEROON, MISS BOTSWANA and MISS ZAMBIA. The models posed beside THE LONDON GROUP's LOTUSES and FERRARIS, guys in the street pressed their noses to the windows and the champagne flowed. The talented designers on show were DEIDA ACERO, SHI CASHMERE, CHARLES SVINGHOLM and KRUSZYNSKA.

My CELEBRITY BOOK OF THE MONTH for August is my very dear friend STEVE ROWLAND's fascinating HOLLYWOOD HEAT: UNTOLD STORIES OF 1950S HOLLYWOOD (BOOK GUILD / £19.99), a beautifully presented coffee table tome with loads of extraordinary pix. The title is self explanatory – Hollywood actor and singer turned record producer STEVE was just starting out in his own highly successful film career in the 50s but, as the son of A list director ROY ROWLAND and showbiz journalist RUTH ROWLAND, not to mention a relation of LOUIS B MAYER and GOD knows who else, he was totally connected. He tells some interesting tales of all the legendary icons of the era including MARILYN, ELVIS, JAMES DEAN, BRANDO, TONY CURTIS, ROD TAYLOR, NATALIE WOOD, STEVE MCQUEEN, GEORGE HAMILTON, BURT REYNOLDS............. the list is endless. 50s and 60s Hollywood was a true golden era in the film business back in the days when the word celebrity meant something and stars became stars through their talent. STEVE, who also wrote a Hollywood showbiz column, has a wonderfully florid and entertaining writing style which evokes those hot and heady days in LaLa Land perfectly. The book also includes some excerpts from his columns which give the reader a rare insight into what was really going down on the Hollywood showbiz scene at that time. Unmissable.
