MARK WINTERS

Well at least the weather has got better!

I don't know about you, but I am getting fed up of an Elvis Presley record being released every week ! Ok, I know he was a great artiste, but I feel that RCA are profiteering, as they know the fans will buy anything released by Elvis, even though, they probably have everything he ever released anyway ! They are just buying these current batch of singles to add to their collection of memorabilia. Which then distorts the charts !

Anyway, I have got that off my chest !

Just in case you have all forgotten, I will always give a bit of space to up and coming artistes, solo's bands etc, that can't get any press anywhere else. So, just e-mail me a biog and pictures, with the headline ' Hot Gossip Talent '.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Blenheim Palace Music Festival 2005

Diana Ross

Confirmed For Blenheim - July 1st

Blenheim Visitors in association with Andrew Miller are delighted to announce that international singing superstar DIANA ROSS will be headlining the second night of the Blenheim Palace Music Festival on July 1st.

The annual festival runs over four nights, June 30th – July 3rd, in the spectacular setting of the Great Court at Blenheim Palace. The birthplace of Winston Churchill, Blenheim is a magnificent estate in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, the perfect backdrop for such a dazzling global star.

From 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough", 'Do You Know Where You're Going To", 'Upside Down", 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love", through to 'Endless Love" (with Lionel Richie) and 'Chain Reaction", Diana Ross has more than three decades' worth of international hits to call upon and the concert is sure to be a genuine not-to-be-missed opportunity.

Diana Ross first shot to prominence as the focal point of Sixties girl group, The Supremes – who were second only to The Beatles in record sales that decade – before going solo in 1970. As a member of The Supremes and as a solo artist, Diana Ross has achieved number 1 slots in the US no less than 18 times, has had over 70 hit singles, and has been recognised by The Guinness Book of Records as 'the most successful female performer of all time".

Among other accolades showered upon her are the Soul Train Legend Award, the French Commander des Arts et Lettres and she has also performed much-coveted slots at the Superbowl and The FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony.

Tickets for July 1st of the Blenheim Palace Music Festival go on sale on Friday March 18th and are available from all usual outlets (subject to booking fee) as well on the credit card hotline on 0870 746 0004. Tickets can also be booked through www.ticketline.co.uk. For Hospitality packages call 01993 810 515.

The ticket cost includes free parking. Information is available on 0870 746 0200 and www.ticketline.co.uk. Doors open 6pm on the Friday and the show starts at 7.30pm.

Blenheim Palace is situated in Woodstock, eight miles North West of Oxford on the A44 Evesham road. One hour from London and Birmingham, it is easily accessible from the M40 (jctn 9, signs to Blenheim Palace) and the A44 from the Oxford by-pass. I remember seeing Diana at Wembley some 15 years ago and she was fantastic then !

19 Management

It appears that Simon Fuller has sold 19 for an estimated 100 million pounds !

You have got to hand it to the guy, he probably one of the shrewdest people in the music business !

He took the Spice Girls and did with them What Chris Herbert failed to do, ' Make them Famous '

He certainly has the Midas touch !

It is not up to me to tell him what to do with his money, but I would like to see him put some of it into developing new talent, as the major record labels seem to be failing to do it. Not only that, they do not have the foresight of Simon Fuller.

He has always been able to spot trends, even when he first started with dance music, having a massive hit with ' 19" which is where his company got it's name.

Chrysalis goes into management

Apparently Chrysalis Group has moved into artist management after striking a deal with the management company A Fein Martini, which was originally set up by Steve Feinberg and Mike Martinovich, running it out of New York..

It will be run by Chrysallis top executive Kenny McPherson

What I don't understand is that governments sit by and watch more and more of the control of various factors of the business being controlled by the majors !

Which in my opinion isn't healthy for the business.

Dance Music

It makes me laugh when I read that the music business has a new found confidence in Dance Music, now believing that it still support an effective long-term business model !!!!

Anyone in their right mind could have told you that !! Why don't these fat executives get of their fat butts and get out into the real world and see what is going on ?!!!

It's no wonder they are always losing money !
